The equilibrium climate sensitivity (ECS) in the latest version of CNRM model, CNRM-CM6-1, and its high-resolution counterpart, CNRM-CM6-1-HR, is significantly larger than previous (CNRM-CM5.1). traceability this change investigated using coupled ocean-atmosphere model simulations. These simulations show that increase ECS result changes atmospheric component. A particular attention paid to method used decompose temperature response difference, by a linearized decomposition individual radiative agents diagnosed kernel technique. primarily due cloud responses, with predominant contribution tropical longwave (including both feedback forcing adjustment) significant extratropical shortwave changes. series stand-alone atmosphere experiments carried out quantify contributions each development difference between CNRM-CM5.1 CNRM-CM6-1. convection scheme appears play an important role driving changes, large effect on change.
